I started Focus Like A Mother™ after "pregnancy brain" got the best of me a second time, and the mental load of motherhood had me feeling like my old self was gone. I dove deep into learning what was happening, why, and figured out how systems, strategies, and proven techniques could help me master this season of life and beyond.
Ever since, I've been helping high-achieving parents understand what's really happening in their brains and develop strategies that actually work. My approach includes:
ICF Associate Certified Coach (ACC) credential and specialized training in parent brain neuroscience
Evidence-based REVEAL Model™ and FlipIt Framework for cognitive transitions
Nearly 20 years of leadership experience, including an MBA from UNC Chapel Hill
Lived experience navigating matrescence, postpartum mental health, and the shift from corporate executive to parent
If you feel like your brain has gone to mush and your identity got lost in a pile of laundry, you're in the right place!
Parent Brain Coaching is specialized coaching that addresses the cognitive and identity transitions during pregnancy and parenthood. Unlike parenting coaching (which focuses on raising children) or therapy (which treats mental health conditions), Parent Brain Coaching helps you understand how your brain is adapting and develop strategies to work effectively with these changes. We focus on executive function, mental load management, communication, boundaries, and identity work specific to the shifts happening in parenthood.
Coaching is forward-focused and action-oriented, helping you set goals and develop strategies to achieve them. We don't diagnose or treat mental health conditions—if you're experiencing postpartum depression, anxiety, or other perinatal mood disorders, therapy is the appropriate intervention. However, coaching can complement therapy beautifully or serve as the right support for navigating normal (though challenging) cognitive transitions. If you're unsure which is right for you, let's discuss your specific situation on a free Discovery Call.
While the majority of my clients are mothers (because they experience more pronounced cognitive changes due to pregnancy and breastfeeding), I work with all parents navigating the mental load and identity shifts of parenthood. The principles of Parent Brain Coaching apply to anyone managing the invisible cognitive labor of caring for children.
Not at all! Many clients find it helpful to start during the second or third trimester. Understanding what cognitive changes to expect, setting up support systems in advance, and developing strategies proactively can make the transition smoother. Plus, you likely have more time and mental energy now than you will in those early weeks postpartum.
Start with a free Discovery Call—it's designed specifically to help you explore coaching and identify your biggest challenges. During that 30-minute conversation, we'll discuss which program might be the best fit for your goals, timeline, and budget. No pressure, no hard sell—just honest conversation about what you need.
Coaching services are generally not covered by health insurance because coaching is not a medical service. However, you may be able to use HSA or FSA funds for coaching services—check with your plan administrator. I also offer payment plans for all programs to make coaching more accessible.
